In true cowboy country, the Texas Longhorns played two halves that did not go together. Let us refer to the beginning as Mr Hyde. His actions almost entirely unexplanable and painful to watch by those who considered themselves loved ones. This was thirty minutes of truly forgettable football if you believe in ‘Hook ‘Em Horns’. Halftime came with a score of Texas 13 and Wyoming 10. (In the locker room, Coach Mack Brown must have concocted the magic serum that saves the poor Dr. Jekyll because those that came charging out were not those who limped in.) With themselves restored, Colt McCoy stopped making poor choices and launching  poorly aimed aerials. With their identity assured, James Kirkendall snatched pass after pass out of the air regardless of body position or defense around him. With the reality of the situation affirmed, the Longhorn faithful began to breath again.

I know this phenomenon occurs to every program. Everyone knows it shouldn’t, but it does. Texas better realize that next week they face a Red Raiders team in Texas Tech capable of putting up 41 pts in a half. That is not something you want to wake up to with 30 minutes to catch. That is not something you want to try to slow down once it has gotten some momentum. Texas Tech is not a joke. They are a scoring machine that feels like Texas does not respect them. This is a major game for them. Coming into this with less than their best focus would mean Texas climbing the polls again from who-knows-where, but not #2.
