If you can think it, it can be made.
If it can be made, it can be made in metal.
In Burbank, California, tucked away in an industrial office building, is
The Sword and The Stone. Most passers-by would never imagine what goes on inside this tiny shop. From making swords to fashion pieces for Britney Spears to a suit of armor for a Super Bowl commercial, Tony Swatton and his crew make it all. And they make it in
metal.
With daily challenges of keeping deadlines and design changes after the project is started,
Mind Over Metal follows Tony and his crew through every stage in the process. This isn’t like working with cake batter or cookie dough. This is metal. It doesn’t want to move or bend; yet these guys can make anything they imagine into reality.
The stakes are high when a call comes in for a project. If the project is big enough, will he be able to get the whole crew in? What happens if one of the tools break? What if a piece is made wrong and the deadline is near? What if they run out of material needed for the project?
When stress gets high, Tony plans a trip for the Norse Hollywood Dining Vikings or goes roller-skating with the Derby Dolls. The side lives of his crew range from being a chef to animal rescuer to professional belly dancer. Nothing seems normal at The Sword and The Stone.
